Thanksgiving

Honestly, Thanksgiving is a weird time of year for me. When I was a kid in Oklahoma it was a huge family event, everyone came in from out of town and lets face it there was tons of great food. Good memories there.

In recent years its been different. With our families there is a lot of travel on our part and the weekend tends to be pretty busy. The food is still great but I just feel worn out at the end of it all.

Throw in that both of my maternal grandparents died the week before Thanksgiving five years ago and now my other grandmother is expected to live less than a month... It just forces you to focus on what we're celebrating in the first place. I'm not talking about pilgims here. It's spending time to really focus on what we're thankful for.

God has blessed my family in so many ways this year. While I will be the first to admit that the year has had plenty of hardships I cannot deny the great and wonderful things that have also happened. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but good or bad I know that a year from now I'll be looking back at how God was at work in our lives. Not a bad thing to be thankful for.

Thursdays

I find it a bit odd but for whatever reason I am always just exhausted Thursday evenings. I can't really think of anything I do differently from the rest of the week. Thursdays I simply want to crawl into bed at like 7pm and be done with it.

Now granted today, today was different. I came home early because Abby and Jumah had appointments with the eye doctor. This meant I was at home with Connor and three kids under the age of three that my wife watches during the day. Add in that the doctor we took Abby to today basically said the optometrist we saw last year screwed up and her eyesight is way worse than we thought. One eye is ok, but the other the brain has basically turned off and doesn't use it for sight anymore. So she has to wear these eye patches to force her brain to use and excersie the bad eye in order to get it healthier. Same thing my sister went through at this age.

On another note sometimes pop up blockers can be a real pain in the ass. I want to listen to music right now but even though I've turned all of the blockers off that I can find, the radio staion is still being blocked. I mean come on! I just want some music!

I'm tempted to keep going on some rambling road trip with this blog but I think I might save us all some grief and cut myself off here. On the other hand I may return for more, who knows.
